Additional information

A recent Pew Research Center study reports that 46% of US adults say they have a family member or close friend who has been or is addicted to drugs or alcohol.

Beverly Conyers, author of Addict in the Family says that “Few experiences equal the heartbreak of watching someone you love being destroyed by alcohol or other drugs, yet the tendency of many families is to isolate and keep their suffering to themselves.”

Addiction is a disease, but families and loved ones often believe they are to blame. They become frustrated and desperate as their best efforts, through either control or love, fail.

The eleventh step in twelve step recovery is, “Seek through prayer and meditation to improve our conscious contact with God as we understood God; praying only for the knowledge of their will for us and the power to carry that out.”

Join us in the 6-week spiritual practice circle, facilitated by Kathleen Donohue and Nancy Spencer, and walk alongside others who are traveling this difficult road of experiencing the effects of addiction in the life of their family or friends. Discover the companionship and hope that can arise from contemplative practice and community.

At the request of community members, this wisdom circle is being held virtually to make it possible for folks who do not live in or near Greensboro, NC to nevertheless benefit from the companionship this circle offers on the path of loving someone with addiction. We will meet weekly, online, on Zoom. Link to join will be shared upon registration.
