Healing Breath - “Breath as a Pathway to Presence”

What is Healing Breath?
Healing Breath is an activating, conscious-connected breath practice rooted in the Christian Wisdom tradition. The Healing Breath modality releases tension and constrictions held in the physical and emotional body, creating space to experience freedom, joy, and a deeper awareness of our connection with God, ourselves, and all of creation.
For over 20 years The Second Breath Center has been teaching and facilitating different breath modalities and spiritual practices. From these years of experience we have crafted the Healing Breath modality. Through this transformative practice, rooted in the Christian Wisdom tradition, we create a safe space for participants to experience the physical, emotional, and spiritual benefits of breath work.
In a facilitated Healing Breath session, you create space to:
- Experience the benefits of a full, deep, connected breath.
- Learn about your breath pattern.
- Grow your capacity to hold compassionate presence for yourself and others
- Come away with a life tool to increase your energy, detoxify your system, create resonance between your body, heart, and mind.
- Integrate stuck emotions held in the body.
- Feel more joyful, connected and peaceful within yourself, with God, and with all things.
Rooted in the Christian Wisdom Tradition
The Christian Wisdom Tradition emphasizes the transformation of the whole person from the inside out. Jesus invites us to watch his example and follow him down this transformational path; “Get away with me and you’ll recover your life. I’ll show you how to take a real rest. Walk with me and work with me—watch how I do it. Learn the unforced rhythms of grace. Keep company with me and you’ll learn to live freely and lightly” (Mat. 11:28-30). He modeled a path and practice of spirituality that leads to “fullness of life.”
Spiritual practices in general, and breath practices in particular, create space in our lives to experience this transformation. The Bible has a rich history emphasizing the power, vitality, and spirituality of breath. The Hebrew word for Spirit is “ruach” which literally means “breath.” In the Genesis creation narrative, God forms Adam from dust and breathes life into him. (Gen. 2:7). When the resurrected Jesus met with the disciples, he said, “‘Peace be with you! As the Father has sent me, I am sending you.” And with that he breathed on them and said, ‘Receive the Holy Spirit’” (John 20:21,22). In the earliest church, the desert fathers and mothers taught “breath prayers,” repeating a simple prayer with the inhalation and exhalation of each breath.

Healing Breath Community (at our Greensboro, NC campus)
Please join an already rich and vibrant community that loves to hold sacred space together as we practice opening our body, hearts, and minds through our breath. We gather on the fourth Saturday of every month at Holy Trinity Episcopal Church in Greensboro. There will be at least one Second Breath Facilitator present to assist. This community is open to all participants who have received at least one facilitated breath session with a Second Breath facilitator or trainer.
